FreePik has changed substantially from the resource described in the original 2022 list; its current destination focuses on a former stock-design destination whose supplied URL now redirects to Magnific, an AI creative platform for image, video, audio, and 3D workflows. The original list described it this way: “($14.99 mo) Not as main element. Attribution required.”
Best uses
FreePik is most relevant for AI-assisted creative production and editing rather than a direct replacement for the former free stock-photo listing. Search by the subject, orientation, visual style, and required output size rather than choosing an image only because it is free.
Licensing and commercial-use considerations
This is no longer the same destination described in the 2022 list. Generated content and any stock offering are governed by current Magnific account and plan terms; do not apply an old Freepik license assumption.
“Royalty-free” does not automatically mean no-cost, public domain, or unrestricted. Copyright permission also does not necessarily clear trademarks, artwork, private property, publicity rights, or a recognizable person’s likeness.
What to check before downloading
- Open the specific asset page and save its current license or receipt with your project records.
- Confirm whether attribution, modification, an extended license, or an account is required.
- Check restrictions on resale, print-on-demand products, templates, logos, redistribution, sensitive topics, and AI training.
- Verify model and property releases when identifiable people, interiors, artwork, or private locations appear.
