Test Changes Without Risking the Live Website
Editing a production website means visitors can encounter unfinished layouts, broken features, or errors while work is underway. A private development environment gives us a separate place to make changes, troubleshoot problems, and confirm that everything works before approved updates are moved to the production server.
We copy the existing website files and database to an environment hosted on a Liquid Purple server, update the copied configuration for its temporary location, and restrict public access. This is highly recommended when a website owner does not already have a properly configured development or staging environment.
Environment Setup
Build a functional working copy without interrupting the current production site.
- Website clone: Copy the site files and database from the existing hosting account to our server.
- Private access: Restrict the copied site from casual visitors and prevent search engines from indexing it.
- Initial verification: Confirm that core pages, administration, and essential website functions operate on the clone.
Development Workflow
Use the private copy as a controlled path from development through approval and production deployment.
- Develop safely: Complete updates, repairs, redesigns, or new functionality away from the live site.
- Test thoroughly: Check layouts, forms, integrations, user workflows, and responsive behavior before release.
- Review privately: Give authorized stakeholders a protected location to inspect and approve the work.
- Deploy deliberately: Move approved code, content, configuration, or database changes to production using an appropriate deployment plan.
What Is Included
Production Copy
A working copy of the existing website is installed and configured on a Liquid Purple server.
Restricted Access
The environment is protected from public access and configured to discourage search indexing.
Three-Month Availability
The development environment remains active for three months, providing time for implementation, testing, and review.
Scope & Billing
Actual pricing is based on the time required. The displayed estimate covers provisioning a routine website copy when current hosting access, site files, and a usable database are available. Development work performed inside the environment, stakeholder revisions, production deployment, unusually large sites, damaged backups, special server requirements, and continued hosting beyond the included three-month period may require additional time or service scope.
